Inexpensive Way to Help Birds who are feather Plucking

Posted by spaciousskiesinc at 10:08 PM on November 04, 2005
A wonderful friend Martha sent bunches of brightly colored "strips" of cotton material along with some lovely toys for the birds. Zaney is still a nervous bird and needs to be kept "busy" so that he does not pluck his feathers. I tied these strips from top to bottom and all around the bars of his cage. Just single ties and not really knotted, he has been literally everywhere and is getting lots of exercise and is very attracted to the bright colors, since they are loosely tied he can untie them and I can pick them up and throw them in the washer.I won't be throwing away rags and torn clothing anymore!! Truly it has really made a huge difference in his behavior.
